JOB SUMMARY:
The Trainer for Farmer Field Schools (FFS) is responsible for delivering practical, participatory agricultural training sessions to smallholder farmers through the FFS approach. The trainer will facilitate farmer learning on improved agricultural practices, climate-smart agriculture, pest management, and sustainable soil and water management techniques to enhance productivity and resilience.
Qualifications and education requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or related field.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Strong facilitation and communication skills.
- Knowledge of participatory learning methods and climate-smart agriculture is an asset.
- organizational and teamwork skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Technical computer skills
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct training sessions and field demonstrations following the FFS methodology.
- Support the establishment and management of FFS demonstration plots.
- Provide technical guidance on crop production, pest control, and soil fertility.
- Facilitate farmer discussions, group problem-solving, and experience sharing.
- Collect data and prepare reports on FFS progress and farmer adoption of practices.
- Coordinate with local authorities, project teams, and farmer groups.
