ATAA Humanitarian Relief Association in Istanbul launches an initiative to collect One Million medical masks In order to be distributed on medical centers, towns and camps in the regions in Northern Syria. That comes after the intensification of the Coronavirus pandemic in the area and the unprecedented numbers of new Coronavirus cases every day. It comes with an increase on the prices of masks and also the hard circumstances that displaced Syrian people are living.
According to the official of the initiative, Osama al-Sheidon, the importance of this initiative comes after the doubling of the numbers of new cases, and the inability of the healthcare system to handle all of these cases. The healthcare system suffers from a huge lack of Medical staff and materials, and also from the destruction of the infrastructure. In addition to that, some hospitals went out of service, Which requires us to launch an initiative to provide medical masks for displaced people in order to try to alleviate the spread of the virus among them.
Al-Sheidon pointed out that the idea of this initiative came through the natural role of ATAA association as an association active in the humanitarian work to stand with and to support the people in the camps in Northern Syria. It is worth mentioning that since the outbreak of the novel Coronavirus (Covid-19), ATAA Association made haste to buy medical masks and sanitization materials and to distribute them for free on the displaced people in Northern Syria though its field offices.
