Ataa Association for Humanitarian Relief launched its community centers since the beginning of 2013, with various activities and services. Over the course of nine years, it was the main space for advancing the psychological and social life of the displaced and residents, and the point of access to the population while providing the appropriate place for close interventions with the beneficiaries, which contributes to understanding their needs.
Community centers provide their services through vocational education, psychological support programs, educational supervision department, and formal education from kindergartens to educational restoration, with curricula approved by the Turkish Ministry of Education, and have previously conducted more than 1293 sessions in the early intervention program, speech and communication services, computer sessions and others.
The center’s services benefited more than 465,000 beneficiaries from various social backgrounds in five community centers, ranging from legal assistance, education and training to earn a livelihood and providing grants to start private projects, to providing primary health care and psychosocial support, and providing in-kind assistance that meets the special needs of persons with disabilities and the basic needs of the most vulnerable persons.
Ataa’s community care centers aim to mobilize and empower the displaced and affected host communities, and provide a forum for them to enhance their participation in making decisions that affect their lives. It also seeks to help communities identify available societal needs and capabilities, formulate and implement practical solutions, in addition to evaluating social adaptation mechanisms and identifying measures that contribute to alleviating the suffering of the displaced and residents.
